Thanksgiving Mashed Potatoes with Indian Spices
With this Thanksgiving Recipe, we ditch the traditional mashed potatoes and try something new with Indian spices! This simple recipe is easy to follow and only takes a few ingredients and steps.
Ingredients:
- 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
- 2 teaspoons ground coriander
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
Steps:
- Boil the potatoes in a large pot of water until they are soft.
- While the potatoes are boiling, heat the oil in a small pan over medium heat. Add the cumin and mustard seeds and fry until they start to pop.
- Add the ground spices and fry for a minute until they are fragrant.
- Drain the potatoes and add them to a large bowl. Add the spice mixture and milk and mash until smooth.
- Stir in the cilantro and serve.
